Hi,

 I'm currently using the trial version of FS2008 and  I noticed that the text field associated with the option field "Selection - Other" is not mandatory even when the option is selected.

Is there a way to configure the answer so as when such an option is selected, the corresponding text field becomes mandatory, and we actually get an answer to the label "Other (please specify)"?

Hi Anne,

you can make the field mandatory by checking the "mandatory" checkbox in the "Entry validation" tab of the answer settings. You may access the answer settings either by clicking directly on the answer in the "designer tree" or through the edit answer link in the form designer.

 How about the reverse scanrio:

User doesn't tick the checkbox but does include a response in the 'other' textbox. Can I make the checkbox mandatory if the textbox is completed? Currently, if the user provides a response in the text box but does not tick the checkbox the user's response appears to be stripped away, and doesn't appear in reports.

no its unfortuantely not possible to make the checkbox mandatory if someone just fills out the textbox.
