We are happy to announce the release of version 5.0 of our Feedback Server product.

This version includes following improvements including many internal architectural changes :

Specific print CSS has been setup when browser is used in print mode
Respondent details can be show as pages within a form
Reports can be shown as pages within a form
Respondent can see his answers highlighted in the reports on the thanks page
Report will automatically be shown on the thanks page if only one report has been set as public
Ability to skip answers on the same page as the conditions that trigger them
3D Matrix (Side by side) questions support
Matrix questions creation and edition interface has been completely reworked
Matrix selection based answers can be displayed in drop down lists
Replaced charting engine, charts can be rendered in 3D
Customize width / height for each chart
Display multiple chart series using filters or dates on one single graphic report item
Added response date range rule for report filter conditions
Added respondent language rule for report filter conditions
Respondent can be set in archive mode to re-allow submissions from security add ins
Pipe current respondent (voter) unique id using the {{vuid}} piping tag
Set a default value for piping tags which can be displayed on reporting screens when no effective value can be piped
Develop piper add ins to create custom tags and to pipe values from code
Security add ins settings are cloned as well when cloning a survey
Ranking setup can be set to use drop down lists instead of text boxes
Media gallery with folder / sub folder organization support
Upload and use any files (image, flash, video etc..) directly from the media gallery in your forms
Develop custom condition add ins to return true / false to FS's condition (skip, branching etc..) using custom .net code
Setup custom images in styles to replace the HTML radio / check box inputs form elements
Added a small mail server test interface to test the current mail server settings
Ability to force system buttons (next, previous, restore, save progress, submit) to be shown or hidden
Automatic clearing of existing answers on skipped or branched pages can be turned off
Page navigation using either navigation boxes or drop down lists to jump directly to a given page
Page navigation boxes can be customized using CSS to give a "tabbed" navigation style
Allow respondent to navigate only to already "visited" pages
Set validation on/off for the current page when navigating to another page using page navigation
Ignore all pages with invalid / missing answers when submitting a form with page navigation enabled
Files are also available for download to respondent after he uploaded them
Set title for the deployment page
Set a permanent redirection url for deleted or closed forms
Setup custom metadata attributes for forms, questions, answers and respondents
Copy existing questions or free form based question into free form based pages
Link panel questions in free form based pages

Filter excluding blank fields for no reason

I am trying to filter out any responses with a certain answer to a text question. One of our employees took the survey as a test, and we need to remove their answers from the reports.

The following filter should exclude a response only if they entered employee@company.com for their email address:

Question Answered Contact Info Not Answered - Email - Equals To - employee@company.com - Text

However, this also excludes anyone who left the email field blank. Is there any workaround to this?

New User: Adding Dropdowns in Free Form

Hi,

I am quite sure this is a basic question, but I haven't been able to solve it through experimentation or with the User's Guide.

How do I add a dropdown list on a Free Form page? I just need some Yes/No dropdowns and AM/PM ones, but I can't find where to put those options in.

Sorry if this is an extremely remedial question. I've only been a user for about a week :)

Can I preset an answer from the query string value?

Drop-down menus in Free Form Wizard Multiple Selection option

Hi,

I posted a badly worded version of this question yesterday -- I did not mean adding a drop-down to a free-form page. I meant how to add them to a Free Form Wizard question.

It appears that we have to upload the options someplace else and reference them in the question properties. But I'm not a DBA, and our actual DBAs don't know anything about the Feedback Server. Are there instructions someplace for non-developers?

Is there a way to have more than one exclude answer in multiple selection questions...I tried changed exclude answer value in the vts_tbAnswer table but it won't work.

1) I want to clear the text in selection-Other field if the respondent changes his selection. (prefereably without a post back)

2)I want display the field label and texbox in Selection-Other answer type in the same line

3) I want to create a single choice question where one of the choices has two textboxes

Any suggestion how could I get these things done?

Feedback Survey on one node SQL db on another - Possible?

I am trying to setup the feedback survey on one node and SQL DB on another node, just a few questions:

a) Is this possible?

b) When running fs_install the SQL username and password would I need to create this in SQL or would it be automatically created, also if I use an existing username and password e.g. sa would it use this as it username and password? potentially having admin access to the whole of SQL 2005?

Free Form Designer - More Control

Tom,

I've used the free form design and we're deploying the survey to a separate website. The tables and spaced that seem to be automatically created completely blow out the design. Specifically some TD heights.

I noticed a post where you said you could click on the 'eye' to edit the HTML but I don't see that in the Free Form designer. Is there somewhere that we have more manual control over the HTML that the free form generates?

We have developed an application here which is using feedback server...

Ours is a government Organization and hosting on public accessible web server requires us to go through a lot of processes which we want to avoid for now....but we need User Acceptance test to be done by people from outside organization

The fastest way we can think of his hosting the app on personal shared hosting account for a few weeks?

Can we get a test license from Data Illusions to be able to run FS on a public domain ( shared hosting) account for some weeks ? Is it possible to deploy Feedback Server on a shared hosting

We would appreciate a reply as soon as possible

Star Matrix Question

I created a star matrix question with custom images. The custom images appeared on page load and changed correctly on mouse-over, but reverted to stars when selected, even though I had set images for all three possibilities. I then wanted to edit that question but found no way to access options for the images. I tried in the answer type editor as well. On loading the page subsequently all the images have reverted to the standard option buttons (this may have been because I resaved the answertype for Selection-Image?). Any suggestions? PS I am using Firefox 3.6 and IE8 had the same problem.

Also, would it be easy to have a star matrix answer type where only the selected star changed image, rather than all the stars to the left?

info about browser, OS & screen resolution

I consider using fs as the tool to collect reports form users about technical problems in our site.

I need to know from them info about the browser they use, the screen resolution, and the OS.

The info form HTTP_USER_AGENT is not sufficient.

I know it's possible to gather this information with javascript, but is it possible to embed this javascript somehow to fs, via the hidden field or something else?

I have tried to work with public reports, and have some questions:

1) I want to show the user, after completion, the public report. I have only one report to show. is is possible to skip the drop down question which report to show?

2) can I edit the translation of the language in the reports (Total answers, Respondent Reach etc)? I could not find it.

3) can I remove some data from the report? (for example, I want to show only "Answer Percent", and not the "Answer Total")

4) Is is possible to edit the layout? I want the reports to be RTL and the CSS does not help because it's in Tables.

Sliding Scale Question

This might involve rating a dimension along a spectrum of choices, represented by a range of scores from 1-100, using a slider that you could pull from left to right. Is there a chance that this could be implemented in future release, or could it be built through the SDK?

Setting language in Principal.GetLoginInterface for a validated user

Hi,

We've written our own user provider which implements the IFeedbackServerPrincipal interface. When we've validated the user we return null in the GetLoginInterface method. This works, but we also want to set the user language. This doesn't seem to work with calling HttpContext.Current.Session["FS_SessionLanguage"] = "nl-NL"; when returning null.

Can we solve this problem and how should we do this?

Altering appearance of aspx forms

This a general post to see whether any FS users have used custom script to 're-skin' FS forms to change the look and feel of common form elements. I found this site:

which looks pretty cool, but wasn't sure if it would work with FS forms.

Please reply if you've tried something like this.
